Can I use femSense when I have PCOS?

femSense is most reliable with regular cycles between 25 and 34 days with a maximum deviation of +/- 3 days. Since PCOS often comes with irregular cycles, we cannot recommend femSense for women with PCOS. However, we have had several customers with PCOS who had phases of regularity for whom femSense worked. Which is why we say we cannot recommend femSense for PCOS but every woman is an individual and even PCOS seems to be individual!

How does femSense know when I am fertile?

femSense reliably detects your ovulation and most fertile days using continuous temperature measurement and the well-known temperature method. Based on your previous periods the femSense app can predict your fertile window, the days you are most likely to get pregnant. The femSense sensor patch measures your body temperature continuously, 24/7 during your fertile window to measure and confirm your ovulation. You are fertile in the days shortly before and immediately after ovulation.

My phone does not have NFC. What can I do?

To be able to use the femSense patch, an NFC capable smartphone is required. Without the femSense patch, you can use the app as a period diary.

Why didn’t femSense detect my ovulation yet? Why does femSense  show a different result than my OPK?

Ovulation tests are used to determine when you ovulate and are most likely to get pregnant. Since the different methods of ovulation detection measure different bodily signals, they usually are “positive” on different days. While ovulation test strips measure the hormone that shows that the body is most likely preparing to ovulate, femSense measures your body temperature continuously to detect the temperature rise that happens after ovulation. The femSense app can predict the start of your fertile window and the femSense sensor patch can then measure and confirm ovulation.

In short, ovulation tests confirm that your body is preparing for ovulation. femSense confirms your fertile days and that an ovulation did occur.

Why did femSense not detect my ovulation

There can be several reasons for this and it does not have to mean that you did not ovulate.

femSense works most reliably when your cycles are regular. However, cycles can sometimes be shorter or longer. In some cycles the follicular phase (the first half of the cycle) is a little longer or shorter than usual, which means that ovulation also occurs a little later or earlier. This is completely natural, but it can still affect the accuracy of femSense.

If the patch is applied too late or too early, ovulation may also not be confirmed.

Another cause for this may be an anovulatory cycle.

My cycle is irregular. Can I still use femSense?

femSense is most reliable with cycles of regular length between 25 and 34 days. Shorter or longer cycles decrease the reliability of femSense. If you have very irregular cycles (a regular deviation of more than +/- 3 days), we recommend that you consult your doctor before using femSense.
